WORD is the cool mom of Brooklyn bookstores. It’s got a whole lot of trendy new books, classics, a hefty kids section, and a whole lot of books on New York City and Brooklyn history to fill your canvas totes with. Like a lot of its upscale peers, this bookstore is also a gift hub! It took a lot of restraint for me not to buy any of the Stacey Abrams or Carrie Fisher socks proudly displayed by the register. FULL DISCLOSURE: WORD once held a book for me for over a year that I ordered online and did not make fun of me whatsover when I finally came to pick it up, which was very generous of them.

You Were Born For This: Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance

10 stores into my quest and I already have way more books than I can read so I grabbed this one as a gift. My girlfriend Marissa loves both astrology and shiny things, and this book is both of those things. Marissa was really excited about the author Chani Nicholas so it seems this purchase was destined by the stars!
