The Shop: McNally Jackson
Williamsburg, BK: 76 N 4th Street
McNally has a sleek, chic vibe worthy of its trendy location. It’s impossible to hang in McNally without feeling cultured as hell. For a small store, they fit a ton of books into their pristinely curated shelves, all divided into categorical zones. Despite some hipster bs like absurdly expensive Blackwing pencils on display, the friendly, patient staff give this place a ton of heart— shouts to the cashier who looked up like 12 books for me from a low-quality screenshot of my grad school syllabus!
What I Got
The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine
For a politically active lefty Jew, I know embarrassingly little about Palestine. I’m hoping to start fixing that by diving into Rashid Khalidi’s history of Palestine in the 20th century— I’m especially curious to read about Palestine in the decades before the birth of the Israeli state in 1948!
Binderworks Notebook
I journal a ton. Usually I spring for a cheapo composition book from Rite Aid but sometimes you got to splurge on something funky, you know?
Pencil Sharpener
I needed one of these.
